The Digital Music Ensemble is a performing group that uniquely explores technology and creativity. The ensemble provides students with the opportunity to play state-of-the art electronic music instruments and use common technological tools, such as smart-phones, iPads, and game controllers, as meaningful input devices that are explored musically. The ensemble rehearses in the Klein Digital Music Studio.
The repertoire of the ensemble is wide in its scope, from early electronic analog works to jazz-fusion and avant-garde pieces, covering a variety of styles and approaches to exploring music and sound. The ensemble fosters students' creative ideas, both through improvisation and composition, and features an interdisciplinary approach to the performance of electronic music which allows students to learn and discuss the history, theory, and aesthetics of electronic music.
